Discounted tickets for Christchurch residents on offer again for next year’s Ellerslie International Flower Show
Christchurch residents who are planning to attend next year’s Ellerslie International Flower Show (EIFS) will be able to buy tickets at the discounted price of $22 from tomorrow (1 September).
For the month of September, Christchurch residents and ratepayers will be able to buy up to four Any Day tickets at $22 each to attend next year’s event. This type of ticket allows the purchaser to attend the event on any day they choose. Children’s tickets (under 15 years) will also be available for the discounted price of $4 each.
Mayor Bob Parker says the residents’ offer is exclusive to people living in Christchurch and is the best value ticket available. It is the third year Christchurch residents have been offered discounted tickets.
He says the decision has been made to revert to Any Day tickets for next year’s Show in response to feedback from those who attended the 2010 Show.
“People who attended Ellerslie last year told us that they wanted the opportunity to buy tickets which would allow them to attend the Show on any day they decided to, rather than being restricted to a particular day.
“With two very successful Shows now under our belt, it is great to be able to repeat this offer for residents for the 2011 Show, ensuring that as many of our residents as possible are able to experience Ellerslie.”
The residents’ offer was introduced in 2009 to recognise that the EIFS is owned by the people of Christchurch.
From 1 October, Christchurch residents and ratepayers will still be able to buy Any Day tickets to the Show but these will be at the Early Bird price of $29 each. Children’s Early Bird tickets will also be $4 each. After 14 February 2011, adult Any Day tickets will be $40 each and children’s Any Day tickets will be $5 each.
Discounted tickets for Christchurch residents will be available from Council service centres or by telephoning the Council’s Customer Call Centre on 941 8999 or 0800 800 169 for Banks Peninsula residents.
Tickets will also be available from the website www.ellerslieflowershow.co.nz. There will be no booking fee.
