Medals And Awards

   

The aim of EIFS is to create a pre-eminent event of the highest standard of exhibition, primarily focused on the floral art, horticultural, landscape design and construction industries. Judging of all exhibits ensures quality and high standards.
 
Supreme Awards
 
·        Four EIFS Supreme Awards are available to reward medal-winning exhibits within any of the horticultural exhibition categories. (A fifth Supreme Award is available to retail exhibitors only). 
 
·        The Supreme Awards are awarded by a special Supreme Award judging panel, with critical input from the full body of judges. 
 
·        Judges reserve the right not to make any Supreme Award in any year if, in their view, standards of excellence are not achieved.
 
EIFS Judges’ Supreme Award
 
·        This is the pre-eminent EIFS award which is rewarded to the exhibit deemed by the judges to be the best exhibit in the show.
 
·        This award is the pinnacle of aspiration for exhibitors and is widely recognised within the New Zealand and international design and horticultural community. 
 
EIFS Supreme Award for Design Excellence
 
·        This award is awarded to the exhibit which complies most successfully with the EIFS design criteria.
 
·        The principles of design excellence are applied to all exhibits from floral design through to retail gardens. 
 
·        Only those exhibits which have been awarded a Gold medal are eligible for this award.
 
EIFS Supreme Award for Horticultural Excellence
 
·       In association with Nursery and Garden Industry Association, this award is awarded to the exhibit which exhibitsthe principles of horticultural excellence.
 
·        All exhibits that feature horticultural material and recognise plant appropriateness and plant associations within the exhibits are eligible for this award. 
 
EIFS Supreme Award for Construction
 
·        All exhibits that feature excellence in construction within the exhibits are eligible for this award. 
 
·        A wide variety of construction techniques should be demonstrated.
 
EIFS Supreme Award for Lighting
 
·        In association with IES National Lighting Award, this award is presented to the exhibit whose use of lighting helps reveal the beauty of an exhibit during dusk or dark.
 
·        Effective lighting is an art and skill in its own right and this award recognizes that.
 
·        Any lit exhibit within the flower show is eligible for the National Lighting Awards. 
 
Other Awards
 
Yates People’s Choice Award
 
·        This award is judged solely by visitors who vote during the early period of the Show for their favourite exhibit.
 
EIFS Student Designer of the Year Award presented by Solid Energy
 
·        This award is rewarded to the top exhibit in the Emerging Designs category.   
 
·        While all exhibits within the Emerging Designs Student category are eligible to win medals, only those exhibits which have been awarded a Gold medal are eligible for this award.
 
·        It is important to note that this competition will only be held if there are four or more entries.
 
EIFS Zealandia National Flower Competition Winner
 
·        This award is rewarded to the overall winning exhibit in the Zealandia National Flower Bed Competition.   
 
·        While all exhibits within the Zealandia National Flower Bed Competition are eligible to win medals, only those exhibits which have been awarded a Gold medal are eligible for this award.
 
Medals
 
Medals and Awards will be awarded at the ceremonies detailed in Exhibitor Events section.
 
·        Five medal grades for each horticultural exhibition category are available for reward at EIFS: Gold, Silver Distinction, Silver, Bronze and Merit. 
 
·        The Silver Distinction medal celebrates those exhibits that were within five points of achieving Gold. 
 

·        Medals are awarded by judging panels of three or more judges.
