Planning well underway for Ellerslie 2010
Longer opening hours, day-specific tickets, half-day tickets and larger marquees with multiple entrance and exit points are all being proposed to improve traffic management and shorten queues at next year’s Ellerslie International Flower Show.
Show Managing Director Dave Mee says planning is well underway for the staging of Ellerslie 2010.
“The management team has spent the last two months meeting with key stakeholders to address the teething issues of parking, seating, queues, venue layout and services at this year’s event.
“This has been valuable in ensuring we are able to address and mitigate as any many of these issues as possible.”
Mr Mee says it is important to understand that with an event of such international standing as the Ellerslie International Flower Show it is impossible to completely eliminate the queues. “This is simply the nature of an international event of this calibre.
“Visitors need to accept some queuing will always be part of this environment. However, we will do everything possible to mitigate these issues for 2010 by the introduction of different ticket options, better management of the queues and improved signage.”
Mr Mee says Ellerslie will be encouraging more Show visitors to make greater use of public transport next year and will look to extend opening hours to enable visitors to enjoy the Show outside peak traffic times.
“Details of the exact measures we will implement will be finalised in coming months.”
