Application Process

The Ellerslie International Flower Show is always looking for new retailers, with high quality garden or horticultural related products.  Companies are welcomed to make applications to have a retail site at the show, through the following process.  Although it is worth noting that the demand for sites exceeds the available space and sending an application early is highly recommended.

• Fill out application form (page 7) and supplementary brief (page 8) contained in this document.

• Once your application has been received; it will be evaluated on the appropriateness of product to the show.  This process in some instance can take up to 6 weeks.

• You will be notified by email or letter about the success of your application.  If you application is successful you will receive regular updates about the show and your site will be allocated in early December.  If your application is initially unsuccessful we will keep your details on file and notify you if a site becomes available.

Categories

As the show is a horticultural event, preference is given to horticultural related products; however there is an allowance for sites that are not related but will enhance the visitor experience at the show.  Retailers are grouped into the following categories.

√ Horticulture   (Nursery, cut flowers, dried flowers)
√ Garden related tools  (Gloves, tools, shed, green house, compost bins)
√ Home Decor  (Outdoor furniture, lighting, hammocks)
√ Botanical Art   (Paintings, prints and stationary)
√ Other’s   (All others that do not fit into above categories)

Exhibitor Evenings & General Support

Exhibitor Evenings are held in Christchurch in the six months leading up to the event, and if there is a demand, evenings can be arranged in Auckland as well.  These evenings give exhibitors the chance to meet management, network and be kept up to date with show progress.  Emails will be sent out close to the evening with all the details.  If you are unable to make these events we are always available to discuss your site and help with any problems that you may encounter.  All contact details are available in the back (page 11) of this document.

Judging

All retail sites are eligible to be judged and can be awarded gold, silver distinction, silver and bronze awards.  If you would like your site to be judged please provide an A4 page brief about your company, products and site, which will aid the judges when assessing your site.  Reminders will go out regarding this closer to show time.

Types of Sites

There are four different types of sites available at the show, Covered Retail, Country Living Marquee, Open Air Retail and Nursery Sales.

This is a boutique marquee for exhibitors whose products are not necessarily horticultural related but appeal to the larger demographic group that attend the show.  They are also available in increments of 3 x 3, 6 x 3, 9 x 3, 12 x 3 and 18 x 3 metres.  The site fee includes:

This category is for companies whose products are specifically designed to be used in an outdoor setting.  There are various sizes available and a high quality white marquee is able to be erected (at the exhibitors own cost) upon the site for shelter.  It is advisable to lay some sort of flooring in case of inclement weather but a protective membrane must be used if bark, sand or pavers etc are used.  If any structures are erected the footings required for walls can be no deeper than 400mm, otherwise NO excavation is allowed.
To aid us with a better show layout,  a site plan or sketch of the intended layout on each site must be supplied before any application will be confirmed.
